He Didn’t Do it
My friend Chris Quomo is innocent.
Ironically, my fault entirely. I’d invited an old XOFF colleague of mine to the Xmas Party my first year at CNNT. He said he was worried about the way some of the male talent there behaved — as if there wasn’t anything to worry about at good old XOFF. Ha. Anyway, we chatted, had a couple drinks, and then one of my best new buddies at CNNT walked up behind me to join our conversation, but stumbled and saved himself from falling by wrapping his arms around my upper chest, pretty firmly but understandably. In the process of regaining his balance his hands instinctively found my buttocks as a convenient (at hand!! Ha ha) lever for extrication, and then there we all were, safe and sound and ready for another drink.
My former colleague tried to talk me away from Chris, and when I wouldn’t he became annoyed and left the party. Since then I know this erstwhile friend has repeatedly told others in our business about my so-called molestation at Chris’s hands, and I know he has researched and even stalked other reported “victims” of one of the nicest men in the news business. He may be clumsy at times, but at least he doesn’t correct the spelling in my copy, critique my on-camera grammar and pronunciation errors, or curl his lip at the mention of my perfectly reputable alma mater, American University.
So I’m putting an end to this all right now. Leave Chris Quomo alone, Brit Humorous, and keep your suspicions, accusations, and gentlemanly pretensions to yourself.
Stay away, Brit. Don’t wancha, don’t need ya.
Are we clear?
